Corkage - Washington DC?

Are you allowed to BYOW into DC restaurants? If so, does anyone know the average corkage fee? Or does it totally depend on the restaurant??

It is up to the restaurant -- you'll need to phone them for details.

Bring a screw top. Then maybe no corkage fee - or perhaps a "screwage fee".

Thanks!

Austin - funny!

I'd expect a corkage fee over $10 and maybe closer to $20 or $30. By bringing your own wine, you are cutting in on a big profit center, so they have to make money somehow.

Here's an interesting blog post on the topic.

Thanks for the post, Mike. I never understoodd the reasoning behind the corkage fee.
