Copia Changes

Copia has announced some changes. They have laid off about 25% of their staff and are closing their galleries most week days from now thru May. They will now be open only Friday - Sunday.

Julia's Kitchen and the Copia Store will remain open seven days a week.

These are drastic changes especially considering that October is a busy month for visitors to the Napa Valley and that the new Westin Verasa just opened a couple of blocks away.

Copia still hasn't completely updated their website but for more info go to:

I think it was Gray Line, some bus company offered "tours" to Copia taking tourists from San Francisco to Copia, dropping them off, taking back to the city in the evening.

This tour is no longer on the website. I wonder if this may be a partial reason.

Sorry for people who lost their jobs.

Boy, this is just too bad..it was one of my favorite places.

Loved to stay at the Four Sisters Inn (part of teh West Coast 13 small inns owned by the same 4 sisters) down the street BlackBird Inn and wander over to peruse the gardens..look at Julia Childs history..eat in the cafe...

I think this is the begining of some very tough times...

Copia has pretty much always been in debt and are just now getting around to fixing it:

Maybe so - but Copia's problems have little or nothing to do w/ the state of the economy. It has been poorly managed and under capitalized from day 1 . . . . .
