Coors Field Parking?
 

We're headed to Denver for Memorial Day weekend, and have tickets for the Rockies/Mets game on Saturday, May 24th.

Are there inexpensive or free places to park near Coors Field in addition to their parking lots? Mr. Pickle isn't thrilled with the thought of paying $10 to park there, but we'll do it if we need to.

I think you're gonna pay for parking near the field.

$10 to park is dirt cheap. Try $30 at Fenway.

Probably cost you more (a few blocks farther in) downtown. Really, that's a bargain.

We had no problem with local parking,,,loved the field and stadium!!!!!

Ten bucks is insanely cheap.

I just went to a game last week and thought we could find parking cheaper than $10 within 5-6 blocks of the field, but no luck. We paid $10 at the bus station garage (19th & Arapahoe), which was about a five-seven-minute walk to the main entrance. Almost all the lots downtown up their prices on game days. You may find $8.00 lots further uptown, but it's not worth it. Just plan to eat lunch or dinner somewhere besides Coors Field and already you'll have saved enough money to justify parking within a reasonable distance!

Coors Field was designed as an urban ballpark with min public parking -- about 5000 spaces with high percentage reserved for buses. Nothing is free and there are a lot number of independent lots around the field but the cost will run from 10 to 20, Depending on where you are staying public transit is your best bet. Any of the stations along the light rail will have plenty of parking, especially on a Saturday, and take the light rail to Union Station and walk about four blocks. Or take the lines to 16th St Mall and catch the free Mall bus to Wazee or Union Station and walk.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Tchoiniere, we'd love to have the problem of parking at Fenway (son is a big Red Sox fan), but it's not exactly driving distance for us. :-)

fmpden, we're staying near I-70 and Federal Way. Do you have a link for Denver public transportation? That might work if we go back to our motel before the game. We'll be out doing stuff that morning, though, so we might need to just park at Coors Field.

I'm not sure how much the train/bus fare is but I'd guess more than a dollar each. That get to maybe $5. $10 for parking? I love public transit when it is direct--and understandable. But this seems to be easier to just park.
There are a LOT of lots around there. Used to be the site of a monthly Saturday market called the Ballpark Market.

I’m assuming you meant I-70 and Federal Boulevard as the location of your lodging. From there, two ways to get to Coors Field via bus are:

1) Route 31 (North Federal): catch it at the nearest spot on the WEST side of Federal Blvd – that’s the side where traffic is heading south – and it will take you all the way downtown to 20th St. & Champa. This will put you 6 blocks directly east of Coors Field. Walk west from there up 20th St. to the stadium. Note: This bus makes a somewhat complicated stop at a transfer station at Colfax Ave & Federal, just south of Mile High Stadium, but staying on it will take you right downtown.

2) The second route involves a transfer, but you’ll be dropped off right at Coors Field. As above, start with catching the Route 31 bus heading south from I-70 & Federal. After about 10 blocks, get off at 38th Ave., and then catch the Route 38 bus that runs east from here along 38th. The Route 38 bus should take you right to Coors Field.

It will cost $1.75 per person each way, for a total of $7. Bus drivers do NOT make change, so have exact fare ready for each person.

For $3 more, you can park within 6 blocks of Coors Field in one of their official parking lots. If you don’t want to park in the official Coors Field parking area, there are other smaller independent lots along 22nd St and along Park Avenue West that will gladly take your $10, $12, $14, or $20 depending upon how close to the stadium they are. Considering that the game you’re going to go to occurs on a Saturday afternoon of a holiday weekend, and against a popular team, I wouldn’t look for any of the independent lots to be dropping their price down below the price of the official lots.

Unless, of course, the Rockies are 13 & 35 at that point - then you might have the stadium virtually to yourselves, and the independent lots begging you to park in them at $4.

I looked at Denver's RTD site last night. We certainly wouldn't save money taking the bus, and it's likely that we would be driving to the game directly from wherever we'll be in the morning, so we'll just pay for parking in one of the Coors Field lots.

What can I say - we're cheap and we never pay for parking for AAA baseball games. :-D

AAA doesn't have fields like Coors either!! What a gorgeous ballpark. BE sure to bring sunscreen (to colorado in general) but if your seat is in the sun you will need that and a hat.

And to put in a plug for Isotopes Park - it's pretty new and very nice. Not a bad seat in the place!

Most teams offer a discount for buying ahead of time.

I am not sure you paid attention to the earlier information concerning Coors Field parking. Lets run through this one more time.

Coors field has exactly 3800 parking space for a ballpark the sits nearly 45,000. The lot opens 2 and half hours prior to the game. The cost is $12 and few at $10. There is no pre-sale of parking tickets and no discounts. Strictly first come first parked. On street parking (parking meters) for a couple mile radius around the ballpark is very restrictive and designed to prevent ball game parking including night games. Trust me -- parking enforcement means it. It is reported that there are some 18,000 private, off street parking within a mile or so of the field and range is 25 close in to $10 a mile or so away. Driving access to and from the Coors Field is tightly controlled with closed and one way streets. I am familiar with area, I find it confusing, and I don't drive there.

As I stated earlier, the city fathers do not favor drivers. You need to plan carefully if you intend to drive and park.
