Cooperstown Hotel Help!
 

We've decided to ditch our usual plan to visit Vermont in the fall and head to Cooperstown instead. I just need some help with hotels. We will be traveling with our infant (<1 yr), so many B&B's are out for us. Plus, we will need a room that is somewhat spacious to put up the portable crib.

Otesaga Resort and Cooper Inn are already booked for some convention. Any thoughts on Tunnicliff Inn, Inn at Cooperstown, American Hotel, Landmark Inn? We are willing to pay up to $200 a night (heck, we'd probably pay more than that in VT!).

Any restaurant or other recommendations gladly accepted.

Oh yeah, I should also say that we would prefer an inn with some "charm," rather than a Best Western or Ramada.

Have you thought about getting a cottage outside of town on the lake. After our last stay in Cooperstown (in a B&B), we've decided the next stay will be slightly out of town and lakeside. Many of these are cottages with kitchens (which are very handy when you have a baby with you!) There is a shuttle into Cooperstown that runs to town from a parking lot by the Fennimore Art Museum.

Any other ideas? Anyone??

I have stayed at the Inn at Cooperstown and loved it. It's very charming, and it's only a short walk from the HOF and the lake and the main strip of restaurants. I don't remember the exact room size. You could always call and ask...the people who worked there were very friendly.

I liked the size of the Inn. It was bigger than a B&B but smaller than a hotel. It seemed like there were 15-20 rooms.

I agree with Suzanne. We stayed at the Inn at Cooperstown and liked it very much. It's not stuffy, the staff are friendly and helpful, and in size it is indeed bigger than a B&B, smaller than a hotel, and miles away from a Best Western in feel. While staying outside of tow might be fun for a second visit, I'd suggest staying in town, because strolling to the HOF, dinner, etc. is part of Cooperstown's charm. As for restaurants, we liked the mob-themed Italian restaurant right on the main street, very homey, and Hoffman Lane Bistro. The Inn has restaurant menus available to peruse... Have fun!
