Cooperstown for Labor Day?

I have a two-part question...

First, would Cooperstown be a zoo on Labor Day weekend?

Second, should this Cooperstown trip be a Father/Son (age 11) event without Mother/Daughter (age 8 1/2)? Can't decide if our daughter will hate the trip as she can take or leave baseball...but both 'boys' would love to go.

What about you, cc?

If you love the game, you'll be cheating yourself by not tagging along on this trip.

Cooperstown itself is a wonderful, picturesque community with plenty to see and do. The Butternut Valley countryside is IMO, among the most beautiful in MY state.

The Baseball Hall Of Fame And Museum isn't a stuffy, relic-filled, building...It's open, airy and inviting, with both permanent, and changing displays designed to appeal to all ages, and all types of families. My sons and daughters loved our visit there.

Don't know whether it was a permanent exhibit, but when we were there in 2000, there was a very nice exhibit on women's baseball (as in "A League of Their Own"). If it's still there, your daughter might enjoy that.

Having lived in NY state for four years pre-kids and marriage, I know how beautiful it is. Would love to spend a week there:) But we've only got a weekend. Sounds like it might be fun for our daughter and me as well.

Any thoughts on crowds over Labor Day?
