cooperstown accommodations

Need some help in finding nice hotel or b&b in Cooperstown - prefer to be near town. This is August so not much is available. Suggestions?

You might need to check out some of the places farther away on the lake. THey aren't really that far from the town. Hint - on weekends, there may be plenty of parking at the municipal buildings parking lot.

Not much is available for August of next year?? Wow.

I went to Cooperstown in May a few years ago and booked my rooms just 2-4 weeks ahead of time. We wanted to try more than 1 hotel, so we stayed in the Otesaga for a night and the Inn at Cooperstown for another. Both are at the end of the main drag and are within walking distance of everything.

The Otesaga is a grand old historic hotel on the lake, and is known for its golfing. I thought the place was beautiful but a little worn. And it's expensive.

The Inn at Cooperstown was a large b&b, perhaps 15 rooms or so. Even though it was large for a b&b, it had a quaint feel to it. I loved the front porch. The breakfast was good. For less than 1/2 the price of the Otesaga, this was a much better deal.

My dh and I had a great stay at Mickey's Place right on main street - owned by Mickey Mantle's family.

I'm going for a little league baseball weekend - so I need to be near the town and fields. Has anyone stayed at the Landmark Inn or a place in town called the Lakefront Motel?

I'm not familiar with those two places--we also stayed at the Inn at Cooperstown and liked it a lot. It's not a fussy, formal B&B, and because it's larger than most b&b's, you don't get that uncomfortable staying-with-your-old-maiden-aunt feeling. And it's a short walk from the HOF and fields...but is it booked up already?

Yes it is booked

Wow, bummer! I was also going to suggest the Otesaga, which is across the street from the Inn, but it's prob. booked, too, then...although I'm the persistent type. If everyone knows to book this far in advance, some of those people are hedging their bets and will cancel, and you might be able to slip in that way, so keep checking, early and often. Sorry I couldn't help more, and good luck!

there's also a place called Green Apple Inn - it's nice. A friend used it for rooms for her wedding.
