Cooperstown - a surprise for my husband.

I am planning a surprise trip for my husband and 3 of his buddies. He has always wanted to visit Cooperstown so I thought I would make the arrangements for his birthday gift.
I was thinking sometime later in the summer Aug or even Sept. I need help with hotel, restaurant and golf ideas.
Can any of you help me with this surprise?
Thank you
I need to make hotel reservations

What a great birthday gift! I'm not the one to advise you on hotel, etc, as I'm not familiar with the area. Your husband is going to love it!

I'm responding to this mainly so that it'll go back to the top for you. But I'm not sure that I can really help. We stayed there a few years ago. And we liked the motel where we stayed. But it was a few miles out of town and may not be what you'd want for your husband and his buddies. They'd probably rather be in town. As I recall, though, Cooperstown had a pretty good website that had lodging info. You might want to try googling it.

We were there last year, but only stopped for a few hours - did not spend the night. The visitor's center is a very good one, and I bet they have a web site. Also, there is a ballfield right there in the midst of everything. I don't remember who plays there, or if it is just for ceremonial things, but you might check on it. It would be fun to go to a game there if it is possible.

Mona, CAPH52, babs001,
Thank you for your replies. I have checked the website but I was just checking here because I have always gotten such good first hand info here.
Any help would be appreciated.

We stayed at the Inn at Cooperstown and it was lovely. The service was good and breakfast was good. It is within walking distance from the museum and most of the "town."

There is a resort, there too, the Otasaga (is that right?) that looked great, but was booked with a convention when we were there.

I've heard good things about the local art museum and the Farmer's museum. Do a search on this forum and you'll get more info.

We also liked the nearby Omagang brewery. It is a Belgian-style brewery. Good tour and good beer -- we took home a case!
