Construction on 101 N of Gilroy
 

Very specific questions for you South Bay residents--what is the status of the construction on 101 N of Gilroy? I haven't driven down since January, how bad is traffic these days. Thanks.

I drove through there a couple weeks ago. Four southbound lanes are open from Bernal to Cochrane, then it goes down the 3 lanes. I believe they still need to do some work like restriping the lanes. Northbound, it was still 2 lanes from Cochrane to Bernal.

They just opened two new northbound lanes between Morgan Hill and San Jose. They say that this will cut people's commute into the city from the south suburbs by about 18 minutes in the morning.

Thanks, I was hoping that some lanes had opened.

It's open. Today's Mercury news reported "Drivers Floor It On New 101 Lanes" as 150 tickets were issued last Tuesday in the expansion. Be careful!
