construction at the Hyatt Kauai

Anyone hear about construction at the Hyatt Kauai this summer? should I change my reservations and if so....to which hotel? I hear the princeville is nice, but that the weather is questionable in August?

Who ever told you the weather is questionable in August as a rule is misinformed. El Nino is rearing an ugly head this year and there is an increased chase of tropical storms and hurricanes for summer, dry winter expected. <BR><BR>Traditionally July and August are mild. Don't listen to me call the Hawaii visitors bureau or an official agency with weather stats. <BR>

Lori:<BR>Why don't you call the hotel directly and ask, instead of asking here?

hotel Apr 23rd, 2002 06:38 AM

There's a very unbiased source! <BR>"Hello-we're not going to stay there for a week if there is construction noise. Is there any?" <BR>"hammer hammer, saw saw saw-No!"

OO Apr 23rd, 2002 07:27 AM

Give me a break "hotel". As if they are going to say "no construction" if there is any at all! That's absurd. Customer relations, today, tomorrow and yesterday, are too darned important an issue for games like that.<BR><BR>Wish I could help you out Lori, but can't. I haven't heard whether they have a renovation going on or not.

OO-Yeah, right. We've never heard of any horror stories on this or any other travel board where the hotel basically did bait and switch on people. No hotel would ever lie about anything.

OO Apr 23rd, 2002 07:48 AM

Have it your way "hotel"....believe what you will, but I guarantee Hyatt Kauai is not going to lie about this. <BR>

no hotel asking 400 a night per room. Tell us about a hotel of this caliber that had construction without telling people. Hilton a notch or two down in turtle bay was selling this property and still rented rooms at a discounted price and told guests. <BR><BR>No you are right no hotels I know of asking this kind of money would have planned construction and not warn guests. Would serve your argument better if you actually had some examples where a hotel did do this.

xxx-Stick around. They will surface. Or just check out the Rants and Raves section under Hotels.

been on the boar for about 2 years have not seen what you are talking about

Lorraine Apr 23rd, 2002 12:29 PM

I would say the weather is questionable.<BR>Kauai is not called the garden isle for no reason. The north side (princeville) is the rainy, wet side of the island.<BR>The south side (hyatt) is the sunny, dry side. We stayed at Princeville and it rained the 10 days we were there. People rented cars to go drive dow to the south side where the sun was.<BR>

xxx, How long have you been a boar?

lori Apr 23rd, 2002 03:04 PM

Lorraine, what month did you visit the princeville??<BR><BR>thanks for your appropriate response.

We are going the last week of June, and the letter said they would be just painting then. Starting August 8, they are going to retile the roof. We talked about changing our reservation, but staying there was the highlight of my trip. We stayed there two years ago, and I was really looking forward to going back. I never saw the Princeville resort, but our neighbors said they loved it. The Hyatt draws me back because I love the pool, and the beautiful grounds. I would change my reservation if we were going to be staying there while they were re tiling the roof.
