American Airlines FF mile bonus
AA is currently doing a 25th Anniversary of their FF program and each day they offer some sort of special. Today's was with Avis. For each 3 day or longer (and over Saturday night) rental of an intermediate car or larger between now and the end of the year, you not only get the usual 50 miles per day, but on each rental you get 250 miles bonus for EACH YEAR you have been a member of their Aadvantage program. This offer additionally offers a special discount on rentals. I just checked on my two California rentals planned late this summer and the prices now match my lowest I could find before. Reservations for this bonus must be made before the end of May, but any reservations are not prepaid and can be cancelled. But the best part is, since I've been a member since 1984 I'll be getting 11,000 bonus miles on the two car rentals.
I suggest all Aadvantage members check out their daily specials.

Neopolitan - yes, indeedy, this is a good deal. I was able to take advantage of their 1st day promo of reduced mileage on award tickets.
I am also taking advantage of the Avis deal next week. I have been a member since 1987, so that's a lot of extra miles!
However, at least in my perusal of the terms & conditions, it says that the max you can get until the end of the offer is 6250. You mentioned 11000 miles, so you might want to check the T&C to be sure.
Of course, 6250 bonus miles is nothing to sneeze at.

Thank you! Now I have to calculate if paying extra to change my car rental this month is worth the miles. You can bet I'll be watching this link for the next 20 days...love those AA miles. On a side note, I have had the best of luck getting my rewards flights with American.

On my identical post on the Europe board that maximum of 6250 miles was brought up also. I guess I've now been convinced that is true. The site is misleading as it clearly says "rentals" (plural) and seemed to indicate that each rental would be good for the 250 miles per year (that's how they get the 6250 -- 250 times the maiximum possibility of 25 years of membership). But guess maybe you do top out at 6250 miles.
Meanwhile I was surprised that for my one way SFO to LAX rental, that link with Avis got me a better rate than I could find with any of the other companies, slightly lower than the next best bet I found with Dollar. And my three week LAX rental was almost identical with my Dollar rate.

Hello again Neopolitan - this is very interesting to me as I, as you, have several upcoming car rentals this year and would certainly like to maximize my mileage.
I checked the website again and you were correct that it is rather vague. It just says "up to 6250" with no mention as to per rental or total.
So I just got off the phone with AAdvantage Customer Service. She said that it is 6250 total that you can receive. I explained that I have been a member since 1987, so I could technically earn 4000+ per rental, and she said no, only a max of 6250 through the end of the year, no matter how many Avis rentals I have.
But of course, that's nothing to sneeze at, especially if the price is right as well!
Did you notice that you can get a sneak peek at what's coming up each day on their little calendar? On Day 8 there is going to be something about Marriott, where I'm going to be staying several times. So maybe more miles there too or a discounted rate!
Thanks for this thread. Very good information.
Happy travels!

Hey, my partner and I still do the AA I-Dine program. We don't have to do anything, but get miles whenever we eat at any of their restaurants and charge on our registered credit cards. We keep registering for additional bonuses. Because we each did a number of them last year we became elite members and now get 10 (sometimes even 20) miles per dollar spent. Then we seem to get monthly bonuses of 250 or 500 miles. We keep racking them up from that program.

To Neopolitan...you have my greatest thanks!!!
I booked a trip on 4/26 to Hawaii using my miles. After reading your post, I was able to rebook my flight, saving 25% miles and able to fly First Class instead of coach!! I had to pay $125 to redeposit the miles [for 2 tickets]. A small price to pay to be able to fly first class at such a savings.
The only downside...we have to stay 3 extra days in Oahu to be able to fly home using miles for first class...drat!!
Again, you have my heartfelt thanks!!

Apology accepted [with a big GRIN]. I just tried to get the Avis car for the extra 3 days, can get the discount price but not the extra 6250 bonus miles for years as member...doesn't apply in HI...oh well, I can't be greedy.
Again, thanks. These travel boards are simply the best...

To add to AnnMarie's post, you can get 250 miles just for looking at an ultra-short video online (the Zephyr). Then you can print out a form, take it to a dealer, and test drive the car for 2500 miles! The easiest 2750 miles! I may be wrong on the exact numbers, but it's around there. Then you get mileage if you actually buy the car.

And just a reminder, don't forget to check here. Of course I always seem to remember it myself after I've placed an order just thru the direct website. http://www.aadvantageeshopping.com/i...src=citisummer
