considering a move to Spokane
 

we're highly considering a move to spokane as we're looking for an area to live and have easy vacation access to the outdoors, including nearby Idaho. most important point of moving is for our seven year old girl, to raise her in a better area with better weather so we as a family can spend more time outdoors. because of the weather west of the mountains in washington, my little girl spends most of the year indoors. her and friends would be outdoors quite a bit more i'm sure in Spokane! so the question is to ask here is what is the most enjoyable suburb of spokane to live, offering the easiest access to outdoor recreation? here's a link http://www.bestplaces.net/backfence/..._WA&p=55367000 i'd like to get a second opinion on the third post down dated 10/26/2010 ...

i'm also considering just hiring from craigslist but not thrilled about the idea of possibly being ripped off by a crook posing as a mover. does that happen?

Are you talking about the Spokane in Eastern Washington? When I went to school there I remember that there was usually snow on the ground by Thanksgiving and that north-facing slopes were covered with snow or ice until after Easter.

It rains less in Spokane, but many days there are probably too warm or cold for little children to play outside for long.

Weird. My kids grew up west of the Cascades - in Portland and later Bellevue, and they spent plenty of time outdoors. You're wouldn't happen to be from carefulmovers, would you?

Doesn't it snow all winter in Spokane and get dreadfully hot in the summer?

Mom and stepdad live there. It snows a lot in the winter, and can be very hot in the summer, so I wouldn't exactly describe it as an outdoor-lover's paradise. If you're determined, though, take a look at Mead, just north of Spokane...some nice neighborhoods around there.

I live in Seattle. I also just don't get the comment about a kid being indoors all year.
