Connecting through Chicago
Just a quick question, any help would be great. I am flying from Toronto to Houston with a connection in Chicago (O'hare). Now I am confused as to whether I will arrive at terminal 3, since Toronto has preclearance or if I have to arrive in terminal 5 and then run to terminal 3 to continue on. Any responses or tips you may have would be great. Keep in mind I will be doing all this with a four year old in tow. Thanks again

Every flight I've ever taken from Canada to the US arrives exactly as if it had arrived from the US, since the passengers went through US Immigration, and their baggage went through US Customs, back in Canada.
So you arrive at whichever Chicago terminal your airline would use if it were arriving from - well, Houston. |
I agree with the above post. You'll arrive at Terminal 3 and have only a short walk for your connection.

I was concerned coming from Montreal whether I could make a connection with 1 hour layover time. Does this mean we get checked through to our end destination rather than have to pick up bags?
|
kstrueh - Montreal, like Toronto, has US immigration/customs pre-clearance. You'll through them before you drop off bags to the airline. You don't need to pick them up at Chicago or any other connecting airports.

If your planes lands on time you should be fine. If it's late - who knows? Have you checked it's usual on-time rating? And will you be flying potential bad weather?

Trip isn't till May, so not worried much about weather delays. Not sure where to go to check on-time ratings. Flights are American Airlines.
