Connecticut lighthouses

We will be visiting family in central Connecticut for a week at Thanksgiving and I wanted a chance to photograph lighthouses. As I looked into it, it appears that if we want a good view at more than one or two, a cruise is the way to go.

I found several lighthouse cruises in Connecticut, Rhode Island and nearby Mass, but after contacting them, all discontinue for the season about now or within 2 or 3 weeks.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Charter a boat?

You might be surprised however at the views you can get from the land. I was recently in Maine and got some great shots of 3 different lighthouses, all from the land.

Good luck.

In Groton, you can see Ledgelight from the shore and it is a close enough view of it. It is really pretty and very unique.

Here's the link you want:

Click on any of the lighthouses, and this site will give excellent descriptions of how to visit each lighthouse, and what you will see once you get there.
We visited Connecticut last year, and I must admit I was frustrated at how difficult it was to see any of them. Like us, you may just have to settle on seeing what you're allowed to see.

I had been to that site. That was what discouraged me from trying to see the lights outside of a cruise.

With about 10 people in the party, the rest will not have the patience for that much time.
