Condo Near Myrtle Beach in Oct
 

We are planning on driving to North and South Carolina for 10 days in early October from the midwest. Looking for ideas for a resort or condo near the ocean....(1 couple early 40's w/ no kids.) Visiting college daughter in Conway SC for 1st time, and have no idea where we should stay. We have even considered looking for a place once we get there...is this a good idea? Our plans are to spend possibly 5 nights in this area, ending up in Asheville NC on our way home. (to visit other college daughter!) We are golfers, and swimmers, like the nightlife...but have no interest in the waterparks, mini-golf...etc. I would appreciate any suggestions!! Thank You Dot

The Forest Dunes resort in Myrtle Beach has very nice individually owned condo units. We are always very pleased when we stay there. Website: www. forest dunes.com <BR>Myrtle beach has TONS of golf courses. Also don't miss Barefoot landing, and if you get a chance, take in a live show at the Alabama Theater also at Barefoot Landing.

October is peak golfing season so reservations would be best. Most people LOVE Kingston Plantation (between N. MB, and MB) with their condos that are both on the ocean or near it. This will also keep you close to restaurants and nightlife. A few popular places for our family (parents early 50's and kids in 20's) are Nakatos (best japanese food made in front of you) and T-Bonz. Broadway at the Beach will have the best nightlife. Would be about 1/2 drive from Conway. You won't find anything in Conway except a Comfort Inn. There is a good golf course near Conway - Wild Wing - you may want to even call the Chamber of Commerce - a lot of places offer golf packages.

you might want to check out Litchfield Golf Resort...it's a little further south...but less tourist trap than Myrtle Beach. The golf rates are reasonable if you stay there. <BR> God Bless all in America who have suffered the horrible tragedy of Sept 11!

The Litchfield area is MUCH nicer, imho, than Myrtle Beach, which is full of waterparks and mini-golf. Litchfield is much quieter and more secluded, although there are great restaurants in the area. Brookhaven Gardens is nearby, which is well worth a visit if you enjoy sculpture and amazing gardens. You may also enjoy Huntington Beach state Park across the street, which offers quite interesting nature trails and has never been crowded when I've visited. It attracts more of a bird-watching crowd than beach-goers. <BR>

What is there to do in Myrtle Beach for adults? (besides the obvious golf?!) I have checked out the many websites...but is kinda' overwhelming...Any Suggestions?

Definitely Litchfield. Contact Litchfield Beach and Golf REsort (google and you'll find it). The fall is popular but there are good packages and it is just gorgeous.
