Concert at Red Rocks in CO
 

Coming from the east coast, going to a concert at Red Rocks. Any tips? Best hotel?

I'd guess you'd want to stay in Denver--or you could probably save some money if you stayed around the Tech Center. You might want to have dinner at The Fort which serves lots of game and has a fantastic view.
How long are you staying? Doing anything else?

When I went to Red Rocks for a concert about 5 years ago, we stayed at the Hampton Inn in Golden:

From what I could tell, it was among the closest to Red Rocks, if not THE closest.

I was hoping to get back this past Memorial Day and looked at a nearby Best Western--I have been attempting to get a link to add here, but their website is having issues so I can't.

Nearby Golden is a nice little town, and you can tour the Coors brewery if you are into that sort of thing. And if you have time, try to get to the Visitor's Center at Red Rocks to learn more about the history of building it and all the musical acts that have played there over the years. It's a spectacular venue--you will not regret making the trip to see a show there.

If you want to stay near Red Rocks then there are several chain hotels where I-70, Colfax, and 6th Avenue come together. My wife and I stayed at one (Days Inn, I think), a couple years ago for a concert. It was totally fine for its purpose: a very short drive after the show.

You can also look into staying in Golden, which is nicer and also not far from Red Rocks.

It gets mixed reviews online, but we had an excellent pre-concert meal at Beso de Arte in Morrison.

Wear comfortable shoes. Not flip flops or sandals, because you might be walking a long way, and the shortcuts are rocky.

Bring layers, and blankets. The seats are hard and get cold, so it's nice to sit on a soft blanket. Hats, hoods, gloves, scarves-- depending on date and weather forecast. Last time I went was to see Santana with DS in September. It had snowed the night before at Red Rocks. We didn't have snow, but it was very cold. We wore all our layers.

Have fun. Red Rocks is like no other music venue. Musicians love it there, so usually they put on their best performance.

I loves going to shows at Red rocks. Nice views, great acoustics and a great vibe. Do check out the visitors center to see all the musicians who have played there over the years as well as how it came to be.

You can take in food and drinks-check the red rocks website what is allowed. No alcohol can be brought in but you can purchase that at the venue. Definitely check weather and take layers and a raincoat if necessary since shows are rain or shine. Enjoy!

Yes be prepared to walk a long way--like a mile. We were there for an NPR show earlier this month and they did have shuttle buses running, but I don't know if they do that for every event. It's a fabulous venue--you will LOVE it.

Driving to Aspen area too. Whats good to see along the way there?

I would stay in Golden, which is a very cool city. I few up right near there. It's much closer to Red Rock and has the Coors brewery whicht you could tour the next day. Have fun! Red Rocks it's the best concert venue I have ever been to.
