Berkshire’s in MA are beautiful this weekend,
especially higher elevations - anything above 1500’

I just read another article about the leaf-peeping trip, and I already want to go right away!

where? Too late for a lot of New England. Suggest next year plan a trip for first week of October. Lodging books up early.

This week it is beautiful in CT. Probably too late for the rest of New England.

The Berkshires today ( literally right now) are beautiful. Early brilliant reds and oranges are gone but hillsides are full of great color.

The only problem with the news organizations is that they all quote 1 or 2 sources and one of them is the Smokey Mtn travel people. They predict the colors fading in VT, NH, and ME between 5-10 Oct and that is when things are just getting good.
They try to get everyone down into the Smokey Mtns INSTEAD of spending your money in New England. I've been photographing New England for over 20 years and I would love to do a fall in the Smokey Mtns but a lot of it is through National park and no little villages and covered bridges in these Mtns. I'm sure it's wonderful but I love the things that make New England special.
