Commuting to New Jersey from Manhattan

I have a hotel room in Manhattan but plan on attending a golf tournament in Springfield, New Jersey . How do I get there? The golf course is 10 miles out of Newark airport and we would prefer to stay in Manhattan . Uber? Taxi? Car service.?

Try uber.

Uber or taxi. No sense in taking train from Penn Station to Secaucus just to get to Jersey, just hire out of Manhattan.

Yes, that is exactly where I am headed.-Pga championship at Baltusrol . Available hotels are really at Newark airport, so we would prefer to commute from Manhattan. I don't have lots of experience with uber and was unsure of NYC uber drivers. We would like a pickup from our hotel around 6am to Springfield. Is a car service more reliable?

We always do car services (Carmel or Dial 7) since their fares are fixed as quoted (plus tolls and 20% tip).

We have had a couple of bad Uber experiences (drivers wanting more than agreed) and won't use them again - esp since they have started charging extra if you are 2 minutes late for the pick up - everyone else is 5 minutes (since it can easily take that long to get an elevator downstairs, or find the car in front of a large building)

Thank you for the advice. Ford orbiters have never steered me wrong.

I would give you the following advice, which I admit is in complete disagreement with @aliced and @nytraveler. There's a $14 toll on all the bridges and tunnels between NYC and NJ. Why pay that for each trip (and you pay it in either direction when you are taking a car service or Uber). You can take the PATH for $2.75 each. If you stay near Penn Station, you'll be close to the PATH train at 33rd Street. Take that into NJ and then get your Uber from there, ideally in Hoboken. If you don't stay near 33rd Street and want to get a different PATH line, you can get an Uber at Journal Square.

You'll save a lot of money and it won't take you much more time. PATH runs on a schedule. Learn it, and you won't waste time.

You will need to arrange for your transport back to the PATH station from the event. So keep that in mind. I haven't the slightest idea where you'd meet a car at the golf course.
