Comments about Intercontinental Barclay????

Anyone been recently to the Intercontinental Barclay?? I will go there with my husband in december and now I'm nervous about it. I usually stay at the New York Palace and I thought (now it's seems wrongly) that they were "similar"...
My husband had been there (on a work trip) years ago and thougt it was quite nice, so we decided to give it a try this year
the price difference (with the ny palace) was not too big and now I think it might have been a mistake...
Please Help!!!!!!!!!!

What are you nervous about???

About having made the wrong choice...

I stayed at the Barclay a little over a year ago. It was fine. Nice linens, decor in the rooms.

If it's not cancelable, why are you worrying now?? I'm sorry I brought it up but I didn't want you to be disappointed. If you booked directly with the hotel, you should be able to change. If it's an air/hotel pkg. very often they'll let you change the hotel for a small fee. If it's not possible, relax and go with the flow.

The recent reviews on TripAdvisor sound WONDERFUL!
I'd be celebrating, not worrying :-)

What are we missing? What's caused you to worry?

it's all mclaurie's fault. : P

My boss has stayed there (along with about five others from the firm I work in) and lived to tell the tale.

Even if it was the "wrong choice," what do you think will happen to you?

The common areas are old-fashioned grand hotel lovely. The room we had was huge and comfortable, if possibly needing a little updating.

I love trying different hotels in Manhattan. Stayed there years ago. Love the Lobby. The room not so much, but I am sure the one we stayed in has been upgraded. If I ever return and am not satisfied with the room, I'd simply ask to be moved. Actually I think the Palace has seen better days but haven't been there in over a year. The lobby although ornate was like walking thru a museum after hours - really quiet. One thing I found curious was the website shows similar rates for suites and rooms - must be a glich. I say embrace the new experience!
