Commander's Brunch Attire
Just wondering the appropriate attire for brunch at Commander's Palace? Are reservations neccessary?
Thanks!! |
Are you talking about the Commander's Palace jazz brunch in New Orleans? If so, reservations are definitely needed. Coats aren't required for men at brunch but many wear them, especially during the fall and winter months. I've never been to the Commander's in Las Vegas, but everything there seems to be much more casual.

It's pretty casual, but not sneakers/shorts/jeans casual. No jackets required. Yes, reserve in advance.
|
Not only are reservations advisable, but it's a good idea to make them well in advance if you are travelling during a peak time -- or else you risk being shut out or having a lousy seating.
We always dress up a bit for brunch at Commanders -- hubby in a blue blazer and khakis (no tie), me in a dress. The restaurant is quite elegant, and the mood is festive, even celebratory, and it inspires you to dress up a bit. |
I will probably get slammed for this, but I found the dining room decor of the NO Commander's Palace no more inspiring or elegant than the local Houlihans. I wore typical "business casual", no jacket, and felt perfectly comfortable.

slam slam slam - just kidding.

I've heard that this is a nice brunch, but have not heard of what is on the menu. I looked on their website but it appeared to be a 3-course meal with poached eggs and quail?
|
It's a three-course meal for around $29 but YOU get to pick what you want to eat. The egg dishes were out of this world, and so was the bread pudding!
When I went to Commander's for the jazz brunch in January, I was wearing a black peasant blouse, pinstripe slacks and boots. My bf wore a nice sweater and wool pants. We were the most dressed-up people in the room (which kind of shocked me). |
Aahh...Commanders for Brunch...one of my favorite "old New Orleans" restaurants. I would definitely recommend requesting a table in the courtyard for the true N.O. ambience. Beautiful ferns, fountains, jazz music.
I think dressy casual is appropriate..lovely place...have fun! |
