Coming to the Bay area for Easter?
 

We've been promised fantastic weather, blue skies and temps between 70-80 depending on location. Wine country should be suburb. One suggestion not often mentioned is Filoli a beautiful Georgian Mansion now part of the National Trust about 30 miles south of SF off 280 at La Canada Road. The azaleas, spring bulbs, iris, rhodies etc. should be in full bloom with the rose just begining to bud. You can do it in 2 hours and it's a pretty drive from the city. Not open Monday.

Kam, thanks for that suggestion to see Filoli. Now I know what to do with my in-laws on Friday!

Susan, Filoli is a wonderful choice. We have taken out of town guests there and they loved it. <BR><BR>We haven't been in about two years and I don't remember if we had to make advance reservations, I _think_ that we did.

Nina, I looked at their website and you need advance reservations if you want to do a tour. I think we'll just have a look on our own. I tried to take the in-laws there a few years ago, we got a late start and didn't get there before they stop admitting visitors at 2:30pm. Tomorrow we'll do better. <BR><BR>It is absolutely *beautiful* here in the bay area today! Need to get off the computer and go outside!

Kam:<BR>Thanks for the post. I just returned from SF and sorry I didn't know about Filoli. Will add to my plans next time. Had a wonderful time thanks to the info posted by the locals. Ate enough artichokes to sink a ship and enjoyed the limoncellos at Firenze's. Please forgive intruding on this thread: Susan, did your parents dine at the French Laundry, and if so, did they enjoy it?

Hello mystery xxx! Not yet. Their anniversary is in June which means I will need to call in April (!) for the resys, if I can get them. My bro-in-law is also proposing we cook for them and recreate Babette's Feast. I'm more than a little worried about the turtle soup.
