Comedy Clubs - Upper West Side

This is one of many questions to come, I'm sure. We'll be in NYC in May and I'm looking for a good comedy club. We will be staying in the Upper West Side at One the Ave so someplace relatively close would be great. Any suggestions?? Thanks!!

Aren't comics like music, personal taste. Country music v. Philip Glass? Carrotop or Bill Maher? Dane Cook or someone who is alive?

How would you be guided?

mp, thank you so much for the suggestions! And yes Aduchamp, comedy is a personal taste but I don't know enough about comedians to make an educated choice. I'll just pick a club and take my chances on the comedian. I have faith that we'll laugh a lot and have a great time. It's all good.

Then I would try an improv club or one where there are many comedians rather one or two for the evening.

If you're willing to stray from the upper west side, comedy cellar is a good option.

There are usually 5-6 comics per time slot but you do need to make reservations.

You can do it off their website and there you can see some of the comics who have dropped in:

I don't think i've ever been to a show where I didn't enjoy it.
