Combo trip: LA and San Diego
Planning a trip in June to see the Dodgers.
Will be staying in LA for a week then on to San Diego for another week. Can anyone recommend a nice to moderate hotel near Dodger Stadium? Also, are there any hotels on Coronado Island besides the Del that are nice but won't break the bank? Thanks for any help.

There is a Comfort Suites in Mission Valley that you can get under $100 on Travelocity or their website (be sure to select internet deals), and it is pretty nice/new with free parking. Next to that is a Hilton, probably $150 or so but not really worth it (plus $8.00 for parking). My husband and I stay down there a lot for his work. Also, there's a Hampton Inn in Kearney Mesa which is very nice/new and has breakfast incl. (parking is free). These are all within 10 minutes of the stadium.
In June, the Dodgers are tentatively playing at Dodger stadium on the 1st, the 3rd through the 8th, and again between the 17th through the 22nd. Go to dodgers.com for info on teams playing against them.
The stadium is not located in the greatest part of town, and not much else to do except drive somewhere else. Close is downtown L.A., Glendale, and a little farther, Pasadena. It's an easy drive from Westwood, West L.A. or, to the north, the Universal studios area. If you narrow down the area you want to stay in, we could probably help you with a few hotel selections.

I am way off track here. I thought you were looking for hotels near the stadium in SD. Sorry!!
there are several hotels on coronado. there's a nice one right across the street but unfortunatly i can't remember the name - i'm sure there is a tourism number you could call to get a list. however, ALL hotels on coronado are going to be pricey.

Glendale Hilton and the Best Western Gold Key (Glendale) are both a few miles drive to the stadium.

thanks for the info. Inchy I am looking for something near the stadium as long as everyone thinks this is a safe bet. I have heard conflicting reports. Some say don't stay near the stadium, but others say certain areas are all right. I just want something where I don't have to navigate the streets of LA at night after the game. I want a straight shot from stadium to the hotel. Thanks for all your help.
Delia

I'd suggest staying in downtown LA after the game. Easy drive from the stadium. And you should be able to get a good deal on priceline.com.

If you just want a decent hotel to crash after a game you should stay in a downtown hotel. As the above poster said, you can get some very good deals on Priceline, even on a weeknight.
