I apologise for my lack of knowledge about American holidays but when is the Columbus Day holiday?

first or second monday in october...obviously columbus couldnt remember the date exactly .. but knew it was on a monday...at least thats when we celebrate it.

With the exception of banks and government agencies, this is not a widely observed holiday in the U.S. Schools are in session.

For the record, Columbus Day will be on Monday, October 8 in 2001.

actually, many schools ARE closed, as are banks and any gov. office. retail is always open, however, and the NYSE is trading, as is the NASDAQ, while the NY bond market usually has a shortened day of trading. <BR>
