Colorado train rides

Which do you think is the best ride - Royal Gorge route or Pike's Peak Cog Railway?

Gretchen Jul 2nd, 2013 05:06 PM

You need to tell everyone you are in CO Springs. And then whatever.

I liked riding the Cog Railway, saw lots of Big Horn sheep. Got to the top had HORRIBLE altitude sickness; went down almost immediately and was ill for the rest of the day.

Gretchen - not sure what you mean?

Because the Royal Gorge base area was over run by a forest fire recently check to make sure the train is operating. The base was badly damaged. Altitude sickness is always a potential problem for a few people when they get to the top of P Peak.

You title is Colorado train rides. But you made specific reference to trains in the Colorado Springs. There are many other trains through out the state of Colorado. Since you are only interested in C Springs, no point in discussing the others. That is what Gretchen meant.

I've done both. The cog train would be my first pick. Love the scenery! Our ride started out sunny at the base and ended with rain, spitting snow and lightning at the summit. There is a flavored oxygen bar at the top if you need a little hit.
