Colorado skiing in mid-April?
Hi, all,
Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on Colorado skiing around the 15th of April. A friend and I are trying to plan a final trip for the season, and are looking at Breckenridge and other places in the area. Any suggestions for where we might find reliable snow around that time of year? Any predictions for this season in particular? Many thanks. Julie |
Probably A-Basin. You may have to look at closing dates for ski areas that are on national forest land. They have a LOT of snow this year.

I think you're out of luck except for Abasin. Here are the closing dates.

A-basin is the place, and the rates for lodging in nearby Keystone should be pretty low--don't forget your heavy-duty sunscreen!

Beaver Creek closes April 16th, Vail & Breck open until April 23rd. It will definitely be spring skiing, but unless there's a big heat wave, the coverage will be fine.
Its dumping in Vail now. When will it end?!! Where's the beach?!! |
Summit Co. and that area has had a huge amount of snow this year. As previously said, Vail and Breckenridge are open until 4/23. There should still be plenty of snow then (it's snowing there now, and forecast to continue through this weekend).
You can certainly also ski at A-Basin, but I would suggest Breckenridge or Vail over A-Basin; those resorts have a bit more variety in the terrain. |
Snowbird, UT is open every year until the first weekend in May. After that, we go to "summer" skiing where all lifts that can serve skiable runs are open. Last year Snowbird stayed open until 4th of July.
