Colorado favorites?
 

If you've been around Colorado, what do you think are the most beautiful and scenic places? What are your favorite towns and why?

My favorite small towns are Ouray, Telluride and Crested Butte. Pretty towns with lots of history.

I think the SW part of the state is the most scenic.

Living in SW Colorado, I am sure I have a bias -- but it is beautiful here and for the most part, far less crowded than other areas that attract visitors. The Million Dollar Highway, part of the San Juan Scenic Highway is glorious and Mesa Verde NP is a treasure.

The Million Dollar Highway between Durango and Ouray for the scenic drive. Mesa Verde National Park for the cliff dwellings, Colorado National Monument for the red rock, and Rocky Mountain National Park because it's beautiful.

The Maroon Bells. I think that's the most beautiful place I've ever been.

Creede is one of my favorite little towns, with that huge cliff looming over the town and all the mines and history surrounding it. Lake Dillon is gorgeous in the summertime and you don't get many opportunities to see sailboats in the mountains. The views of Pikes Peak from the Rampart Range Road are amazing.

I gotta be a little different. I happen to like the drive from Walsenburg to the Great Sand Dunes, especially the area from Sierra through Blanca. The view of Blanca Peak is spectacular in my mind, rising up from the flat valley to over 14,000 ft.

telluride, because it has a quirky mix of people and scenery out of a fairytale.

I agree with Utah Tea but think Rocky Mountain NP is the prettiest of all.

One of my favorite sights is after going over Kenosha Pass on #285 from Denver is seeing South Park spread out for miles in front of you. BEAUTIFUL mountains on both sides with grazing lands dotted with ranches and buffalo, cattle, also, elk , deer etc.Also, real cowboys! The sun may be shinning brightly in one place and the skies in another spot look like the earth may come to an end! And it all may change within moments. The sight can take your breath away. Love Telluride ..so beautiful and even though there are tons of "Trustafarians" it is very friendly and cool! Also Aspen because of all the history and it is also cool, even though I never wanted to like it...go figure. Guffey and Alma in Park county are my favorite old mining towns with much of the flavor still there..lots of hippies and a feeling of stepping back to the 60s, both 18 and 1960s!

I've lived in Colorado 45 years and have been everywhere in the state. So much beauty, it's hard to decide.

The southwest is beautiful, no doubt about that. The area around Lake City is stunning and pretty quiet-off the beaten path for sure. Heading there, Creede and Pagos Springs for some camping next week.
Also, I love the north central part of the state around Steamboat Springs and Rabbit Ears Pass. So wonderfully green not too busy. Steamboat, although it has plenty of tourists, still feels like a "real" town.

So many places-so little time.

I love Black Canyon of the Gunnison.
