Colorado Convention Center Hotels

Looking at three hotels near the Colorado Convention Center in Denver; Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, and Hilton Garden and need some feedback on which is the closest and nicest in the area. On the map it looks like the Hilton Garden is the closest and the rooms are currently undergoing renovations and will be completed in February. The room rates vary by $20 depending on the property. Also, any restaurant recommendations are appreciated. Italian, Mexican, Steak/Seafood, and a quick but good lunch venue. $25 dollar max for dinner w/out alcohol and $15 for lunch. Thanks in advance for your help!!

Any help out there?

We have stayed at Marriott Renaissance and Kimpton Monaco. Both are with in walking distance and you can use free 16 th street bus. We prefer The Monaco.

Thanks. They seem to be a bit pricey. Do you know which of the hotels in my post are the closest when walking to the convention center? Hotels sometimes look like they are right across the street but may be at the very end of a block with the entrance to the convention center being a block or more away. We are looking for the most convenient in case of bad weather, etc.. Any restaurant recommendations?

HGI is closest. Hyatt a Regency is exactly across the street from HGI so, might be an iota further. Grand Hyatt is about four blocks.

All are acceptable. Walking between is totally safe.

I would make the decision on price.

Have you looked on booking.com or hotels.com for perhaps better prices, but if there is a convention, that is probably the price point problem.

Thank you for the information. I booked the HGI!! Any restaurant recs.? We won't have a car. Budget is referenced in the original post.

The HG should be good. There are so many restaurants to recommend, you might search the Colorado forum.

Some of the less expensive standbys are:
Tamayo, on Larimer, is good. More expensive than "Mexican".
Lime is awful-- avoid it.
Wazee Super Club, 15th& Wazee is great pizza.
The Chophouse is more than a walk, but it's an historic building, with an extensive menu with good prices.
The new Union Station has a burger joint, and others. We ate at Stoic & Genuine (hate that name!), and had half lobsters for $19. Order your side dishes separately. Roasted brussel sprouts were awesome.
Ted's Montana Grill on Larimer is close. It's good.
People love the Vesta Dipping Grill, but I've never been there to recommend it.

You will find plenty of options.
I hope you enjoy Denver.
