Colonnade Hotel (Boston) opinions?
I booked this hotel via PriceLine for $90 a night for three nights in August. I was just curious as to what you all thought of the hotel and the location. By looking at the T map, and comparing it to other stations, it looks like it may be a bit south and east from the main areas of the city. Is this true?
Thanks in advance. |
No, the Collonade is at the back of the Prudential Center/Copley Place area, right in the heart of things. And other tourist attractions like Boston Common and the Freedom Trail are east of it, with the waterfront/Faneuil Hall still farther east. The hotel is "south and east" from the Museum of Fine Arts, but that's about it.
The areas of Boston that interest tourists are just downtown and the Back Bay, with forays into the Fenway area for the MFA and Fenway Park. Those other areas that are served by subway ("T") stations are residential and very unlikely to enter onto your itinerary. |
Just fine location - the areas of Boston you will be likely to visit are all walkable from your hotel - or a few stops on MBTA.

The Colonade is a nice hotel and $90 is a good rate. It doesn't have a terrific lobby area but the rooms are very nice - modern feel to the place. Good location plus its rooftop pool is the place to see and be seen in Boston in the summer. Brasserie Jo is the hotel restaurant and I love it. The desserts are really good - especially the lemon tart.
As a matter of fact, I think I'll check out the rates there for our next trip in town. |
This hotel also has a nice pool on the roof. I also enjoyed the restaurant.

It's an excellent location. You're within walking distance of a lot of the top sites--Duck Tours, Museum of Fine Arts, Fenway Park, Public Garden, Freedom Trail, etc.

Thanks everyone. How far of a walk is it from the hotel to Faneuil Hall and the Commons, anyone know?
|
The Commons is about eight blocks--around a 1/2 mile or so, definitely walkable. Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market is about twice as far, still walkable, but it's an easy ride on the T.
