Thanks. We will do the UCLA, USC, Cal Tec, Loyola Marymount then and then drive back to LAX on Tuesday eve taking a 8:50 PM flight. We will get into SFO around 10:15 PM, rent another car and then drive to Berkeley that evening. We are suppose to spend 2 nights at the Stanford Guest house but may have to change that. The Berkeley tour starts at 10 am on Wed. and Stanford is in the afternoon. We will drive back to SFO on Thursday and return the car and fly out at 1PM. Whirlwind trip. I really appreciate everyone's help.

Well, have a great time and soak it up! Bring a little pad of paper and pen with you, so you can jot downs the "likes" and "dislikes" of each college.

Cheap Plug: Since you will have some time before you leave, (and since every other contestant but me has been doing this), if you would like to vote for me for the ultimate fodorite contest, my stats are low -- I hope only because I haven't been pushing! Click on the link below, scroll down to Surfergirl and vote!

Thanks!

seeing so many schools in such a short time can get quite confusing.
besides taking notes, it helped my dd to take short videos commenting on her personal observations on her flip.
later, as we went through our collective notes having the visual helped tremendously.

good luck. hopefully our fantastic bay area weather will hold strong for your visit.

In case you haven't figured it out already, Caltech is not conducting campus tours on Monday 2/21. It's a beautiful campus but very small. (Pasadena City College next door is almost the same size.) Caltech accepts only 225-250 into the freshman class each year; undergraduates total less than 1000; graduate students about 1200. I'm surprised your son and his friend have it on the same list as UCLA (27,000 undergraduates and 13,000 graduate students). Are they math/science/engineering brainiacs?

LMU is also small (less than 6000), as is the unmentioned Occidental College (less than 2000) which is about five miles from Caltech.
