College search-Help for hotel in Boston!
 
Our family is looking for a hotel the middle of August that is near the various colleges in Boston.Reasonable,big enough for 4 in a room,etc.We are driving up from Woods Hole with arental car and can either keep the car or leave at the airport.We have toured Boston many years ago(cannot remember any hotels now due to senior moments) so we do not necessarily need to be in the "thick of things" but we do love the waterfront,aquarium etc.My high school daughter is interested in BU's marine science program so perhaps something in that area or near Fenway Park (if we can get tickets?-tried several months ago and they are already sold out).Thanks for any tips-husband hates driving in Boston area!

There is I believe a Howard Johnsons (hope they haven[t changed names) near B.U. with parking and a few blocks away from Fenway Park. It is also on the MBTA line so you can get to downtown without using the car. There is also another hotel right around the corner from Fenway and supposedly it's been renovated..also a H.J.

I just took a peek at the BU website (bu.edu) and they provide a list of hotels close to campus in the "visitor center" area of the site. Most colleges offer this information for visiting families.

The HoJo Hotel in Kenmore Sq. has now become a BU dorm, but in the summer it's being used as a Youth Hostel. If this sort of inexpensive accomodation sounds okay, look into it at the AYH webpage. Otherwise, there are many other options in the area. The Holiday Inn at 1200 Beacon St., Brookline is very nice and convenient. There's a Raddison in Cambridge across from BU where they have a shuttle van (leave the car in their lot). Look at all the postings here about Boston hotels and you'll find what you need.

The hostel that used to be a Ho Jo's is better than most, since of course each room has its own bath.

Yes, but they are charging $35 per person per night. You'd be better-off booking a real hotel room thru Priceline.

The Best Western Terrace Inn is located on the subway Green line B, on Commonwealth Ave. It is between BU and BC. My daughter and I stayed there in May on an apt. hunting trip for her.She will be a grad student at BU this fall.<BR>They have suites with a king bed and sofa bed and small kit and living area.<BR>Contin. breakfast included. We found it<BR>convenient because of the Subway line.It's not a 4 star, but is rated a 3 by expedia and some other sites.Very safe area.
