We walked right up on this movie being filmed in Charleston, SC while we were there. I took pictures. I noticed not even one mention of Charleston, SC mentioned above, only North Carolina and other. Were the Charleston scenes cut???
|
The credits online were Candada, NC and Romania only. |
I just noticed my typo :) Have I invented a new country named Candada?? Is that some sort of new art?? LOL, sorry ~

Scarlet..lol

OMG Mimi, that is SO funny! Obviously a lot of people are making the same typo! :lol, thanks! |
Scarlet - I'm glad to know I wasn't hallucinating. The following is from www.movies.go.com.
09/10/02 Filming in Charleston, S.C., was temporarily halted Monday after Jude Law flew back to England to be with his wife, Sadie Frost, as she delivered the couple's third child. (Dark Horizons) It may have been such a small part that it's not mentioned as a primary location or perhaps the Chas. scenes didn't make the final cut. |
RLA, honey, even if you were hallucinating, that isn't always a bad thing :D
It was a rough cut, they did not show credits past the three leads names. I got the list of locations off of their website. So by the time the movie comes out, I am sure they will pay attention to all the correct names to list. Perhaps the Charleston scenes were not cut-I remember scenes that could have been in and around Charleston..swampy land with mangroves and fields of corn.. |
Just re-reading one of my replies. I mentioned a friend had to act like a cheerleader to get me through it. I wanted to put down the novel after the battle of ?burg because the writing made it seem I was there. Wonderful, descriptive writing, but stomach-churning. I gues the movie shows the goriness of war. I still don't like the ending of the book (it felt like a tacked on Hollywood ending to me) so I don't think I'll like the ending of the movie.
Maybe they filmed something at Ft. Sumter and then cut it out? |
Hi Scarlett,
Regarding any movies by Minette Walters or Elizabeth George (Have read and loved all their books!) Try this link at the Internet Movie Database, it shows the EG books made into movies; I think they are British TV movies, so I don't know if they're available there in the U.S. (but maybe) http://us.imdb.com/name/nm1109249/ And I know I watched The Ice House (library copy, when I was living in St. Louis), and there are some other ones too: http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0910319/ TE (~~) |
Scarlet-
LOL! I don't know where all they may have filmed in Chas., but what we saw was on a side street right off the main street in the middle of town (Meeting St. I think is was). They had covered the street with dirt. We saw the walking wounded walking across the main street to lunch at one of the beautiful buildings they must have used as a base. There were costumes on the sidewalk (perhaps they were going in or out), and the catering trucks were in front. Walking by was our first inkling that they were filming there. Asking around, we learned the name of the movie and who was in it. Everyone was very non-chalant (but always friendly in that area)about the buzz. I believe many movies have been filmed in that area. They seem to take it very much in stride. |
Well, whaddaya know...I was reading an article about Jack Black and it was mentioned that he and Philip Semour Hoffman are both being considered for "A Confederacy of Dunces". They stole my idea!
|
RLA, I know just the scene!! That was before the swamp and corn field scene LOL...how cool that you got to see that, it will be fun when you see it in the movie.
The movie is very bloody. Graphic and in your face violent. I am thinking that after the discussion about that and a few other things, that it might be a little easier to watch in December. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was in it! He plays a Minister with an eye for the ladies that Inman comes across..anyone remember that character? He was very good. Tanya, I saw the Sculptress on PBS..I would like to see The Dark Room as a movie..Thanks for the site:) |
I'll watch for it. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie.
