Well, Indy, if it makes you feel any better, I am still paying per minute for online service, every connection made, and even 10 cents per minute to make a local call next door.

It'll be so nice when I can stay on line day and night w/o worrying about how high the phone bill will be, not to mention my calls to mom and sis in the US weekly.

How are things in Indiana these days? I know you had a bout of bad weather there for awhile. DH and I are hoping to make it up there to see the family at some point this year. After all, they aren't getting any younger.

Right now I'm drinking a Laurier Pinot Noir, but I'd still rather have a good Merlot than a Pinot Noir! Talk about uncool! !

OK, OK, so it hasn't been a per minute world here in Nashville, IN.

It's been sad with the weather here. Not tragic like tsunamis & mudslides. We're still doing better. When the water rises it doesn't happen in seconds like a tornado, tsunami or mudslide. You at least get a little warning.

In South Central Indiana we've had the worst floods in over 40 years. I drove by many homes last Friday that had 3 feet of ugly, muddy water swirling through them.

Last Friday I didn't make it to work. 4 of the 6 major entry points into Columbus, IN were flooded. The traffic jams were unreal. I turned around and came home.

I've been really, really fortunate. I sit on a Brown County hill overlooking a man-made lake. It's all down hill from here so no way to flood.

I hope your family here is fairing well.

Amwosu, are you serious about buying your wine at Target? If so, where do you live? I've never heard of a Target that sells liquor. Wish ours did!

Thanks for the update that way, Indy. Glad to here you've fared well. Our family is just outside Chicago (on the IL border) and in Indianapolis. As far as we know they have fared well this winter, too.

All that snow and slush....I think it's the reason we stay here where we pull out the winter wear when it gets below 75.

Yesterdays' drink of choice was a Pinot Grigio too;-). Since we just moved and have to buy all kinds of "things" for the house....our trips will be scaled back a bit this year . In April, we will be going to central CA for 8 days, and in June, 2 weeks in the 4 corners area hiking and site seeing. That ias all so far, I want to go to Europe, but I am not sure it will happen this year .

Had several wonderful glasses of Pinot Grigio at a wonderful outdoor restaurant last night. They had these fabulous overhead heaters.

Drank too much Pinot Grigio and told too many people that I loved them. Too many phone calls to people on my cell, hugged the chef too many times, tipped the busboy $20 and told him even though it was a thankless job, someone had to do it.

Mr.GoTravel said he's never taking me in public again.

CAPH52- We have a Super Target in town. Super Targets have a grocery side to the store called Archer Farms. So sorry you don't have one nearby. I usually visit on Saturday mornings to pick up a Starbucks coffee, a tasty lunch of sushi and fruit and to visit the wine aisle.

I'm such a connisseur... I buy based on interesting names and cool labels. I know nothing about wine except that I love merlot but drink white so my teeth don't get stained. My current favorite is called "Big House White" complete with a screwtop rather than a cork (the argument about corks affecting taste is the reason given for the screwtop rather than cheapness, whatever).

Patrick, thanks for the clarification. Obviously, I am not movie savvy - in fact, I rarely go to the movies. My family is regularly horrified by this.

I was afraid you were going to say that studies have shown that Merlot causes goiter or something and I was already planning a new wardrobe which includes all turtlenecks all the time.

So let's each one of us get out and get a few bottles of Merlot to fight those little creatures Somebody gotta save the Planet!

What am I doing, breaking the Fodorite's rule of not posting on weekends?

G&T in a minute or two. Off to Texas during Mardi Gras to avoid the local parades. There are only three in Fairhope but I am building on the parade route so I figure this will be the last year we will leave town. On the way to TX we will stop in Natchitoches La at Judge Porter B&B for our first visit. Probably eat at Lasyones Meat Pie Kitchen and Restaurant. Sort of a When in Rome thing

GoTravel I have been known to "love" everybody on occassion after too much Pinot Grigio, as well.

Gee, I'm glad I quit drinking Merlot. Critters in the wine? Is that anything like "a black fly in my Chardonnay?"

Fairhope, have a great trip!
