coaching in Las Vegas??

Headed to Vegas (first time!) in a couple of weeks. I know at Foxwoods in Conn. they have tables that you play with phony money and they teach you how to play certain games. Do they have the same type of set up in Vegas anywhere??

Thanks in Advance and more questions to come, I'm afraid!!

Rebecca :)

Yes, many casinos will have a similar tutorial. Check with the front deak when you check in. By chance you're staying at Bellagio, they have gambling guides in each room, too.

Of course, you can just use the method my wife employed when learning craps, she stood next to the person with the biggest pile of chips and just bet what they bet.

Go to Barnes & Nobles (or like store) and buy you an inexpensive book on casino games. Since you have a couple of weeks, you have plenty of time to read up on and learn how to effectively play Black Jack &/or Craps. These are my favorite two games and also, when played correctly, provide you the best odds against the house/casino. I'm not saying you'll win money, but I will predict it will help you keep your money longer and thus give you more gambling fun. Here are a few tips that I read which have helped me immensly:

1. Allocate so much money per day and stop gambling when you've gone through your daily amount. Never-ever-chase your money!
2. Get up and walk from a table if you lose 4-5 hands in a row.
3. Never give back all your winnings. I've seriously seen people give back thousands (yes thousands)
4. Do not play just for free drinks. Remember the tables usually have at least a $5 buy in and you can easily play & lose 4-5 hands before your drink ever arrives. Thus your free drink cost you $20-$25.
5. Get you a "Basic Strategy Card " for BJ (sold at nearly every casino for a couple of bucks
Enjoy! - The dealers and most people at the tables will help you

Should add one etiquette suggestion if you play craps, NEVER start betting in the middle of someone who is on a roll. Yes, I know it is superstition as a new player will not impact the results. But, if someone has thrown the dice 15 times without getting a 7, and you place a bet after roll 15, when they roll a 7 on roll 16 - YOU WILL BE BLAMED. People won't say anything, but you will get the "evil eye." I'm not kidding, you will be deemed as a curse and will for the remainder of the time at the table, be viewed as having wrought bad mojo upon the dice. Always wait until after the 7 and get in on a new roll.

Also, with craps, once you've won a few dollars, toss a few bets down for the dealers. With so much money moving around and multiple odds for different bets/numbers, the dealers will usually make sure they take extra care of those who take care of them.

If I may add another another etiquette suggestion. NEVER NEVER have your hands down on the table when the shooter is about to roll. If the dice hits your hand you will again get the evil eye and of course if the next roll is a seven you should leave immediately as you will probably be called an assortment of names you will not like.
A good rule is once the stickman has pushed the dice to the shooter get your hands off the table NOW.
Good luck.

Barbary Coast tends to have a decent amount of on-table lessons, check with Luxor too. usually between 10AM and Noon. Call the slot club ahead and ask.

I guess I should have said if a seven is rolled AFTER a point has been made.
If a seven is rolled
on come out that of course is a good thing if you are playing the pass line.
