CO or AZ

My husband and I would like to take our 2 grown children and their partners on a vacation in July of next year. The two choices I have come up with are Estes Park, CO or visiting the North Rim GC and also trying to squeeze in Bryce and Zion. We all love to be outside. The kids hike and bike. I would rather have an easy walk with gorgeous scenery to take photos. I can't decide which is better for us. Any input would be greatly appreciated. We are traveling from MI, IL and FL

There are a lot of other choices in Colorado and some, in my opinion, better than Estes Park. At that time of year Colorado potentially will be cooler than the other locations.

I also vote for Colorado..
Mainly because of weather.....Zion in July...almost too hot to hike except the "Narrows"
Colorado , lots of alternative areas to discover..
I must admit I am very weather sensitive...so may be prejudice.

July is going to be very crowded at your 4 options. Zion will be very warm. Have you been to any of your locations before? If not, you will get more variety of scenery in the GC, Zion and Bryce combination. Some of your choice should be based upon how many days do you plan for this trip? Are you more into rock formations or Rocky Mountains with more green? All locations are nice but personal preference comes into play. If you don't like crowds, none of these areas are the best choice. You might want to consider areas other than NPs. Like others have said, CO is a beautiful state. Your options are endless and outstanding.

Zion will be hot, average high of 100 in July. But if that's just an add-on with the North Rim as your main focus, it shouldn't be a deal breaker.

Average high/low for Bryce, North Rim and Estes Park range from 77 to 80 for a high and 46 to 53 for a low. In other words, they are all basically the same. It will be a bit cooler once you get into RMNP as it's higher elevation than Estes Park. But again, the temps shouldn't be a deal breaker for any of those areas.

Never been to the North Rim but it's always been described as much quieter and more relaxed than the South Rim. It sounds like it would be a great choice for everyone. Estes/RMNP is great as well but Estes is so ridiculously crowded in summer that I always avoid the town as much as possible. You will run into crowds everywhere in town, so if you pick Estes just stay on the edge of town closest to the park.

Instead of Estes Park you might look at Grand Lake and visit the Park. And there are lots of other Colorado locations for lots of outdoor activities--and good dining nearby.

We have decided that CO will be better for us and are now looking into Grand Lake. Is that a busy area as well?
