Possibly, but it's not the kind of pizza I like at all. Big, thick, and doughy. But to each his own.

I like Motorino. Remember that they also have a place in Manhattan, on East 12th Street.

If you will travel to Brooklyn, you might want to have the pizza at Paulie Gee's in Greenpoint. They are open only for dinner, and are located in an interesting neighborhood. A block to the west of the pizzeria, there is a park with a stupendous view of Manhattan across the river.

This Brooklyn pizza trip report is a little dated, but gives you an idea of all the best places.

L&B Spumoni in Bensonhurst, mentioned in the blog linked by Nstevey, does not have great pizza in my opinion. Very thick doughy crust drowning in tomato sauce.

But many people love it, and I can tell you that if you want to immerse yourself in what feels like a convention of extras from The Sopranos, this is the place. It's been in a number of movies, too.

So it is really kind of fun, apart from the pizzas which, again, many people love. And you can eat outside which is great for people watching. Moderate prices for the pizza. They have a regular restaurant, too. It's an interesting neighborhood, but I do not know anything about the public transport options.

I grew up near Spumoni Gardens. It was what we used to call Sicilian pizza because of the thickness. I always though it had a name that Ralph and Alice would visit on their anniversary. I have not been there in a generation and unless they changed the decor no one would have a celebratory anything there except after a Little League game or getting drunk in high school.

The "decor" looks like it's been around awhile. But was this for a celebratory meal? I missed that part. If so, not the place. Anyway, it is probably just too far to schlep for anyone but a local, unless one has other business in the area.

I took of tour of Brooklyn a few years ago. Loved Spumoni Gardens pizza. We all did. I'm not a fan of the thin NY style.
