Clubs in NYC

We are going to NYC next March. We are in our late fifties and would like to be recommended a good night club.Preferably with Sinatra style music, dining and dancing, although we also like blues.Any suggestions?

BWOK not sure what patriotism has to do with dinner/dance clubs.

But perhaps in your very wierd mind the two things are linked.

Unfortunatleyt NY has some very arcane rules on dancing in public places and almost all the clubs are for the younger set. The only place I know that might work for you is the Rainbow Room - and the food is reputedly not very good.

However, there are tons of clubs in which you can have dinner and listen to music. (Not sure about Sinatra though.) I would cherck out Time Out New York for some blues/jazz options.

Oh flup, that's what I've been looking for too! I want romantic dinner dancing for our anniversary and so far the only name that's come up is the Rainbow Room.

As far as clubs go, though, a place called Smoke has been recommended to me. I don't know it personally so I hope others on this thread will comment. Is it upscale? Dressy? What kind of music, generally? Dinner or just drinks? I don't supposed there's dancing, is there?

One idea is to take the Bateaux NY cruise which has live music and I gather dancing. The skyline views are a bonus. ;)

Swing and Birdland are 2 places that tend to have big band music.

There is a cabaret show called "This Joint is Jumpin" at the Supper Club on west 47th. Info here

I also found this listing

"Sounds of Sinatra"
Saturdays, ongoing. Talented vocalist Cary Hoffman celebrates the music of Sinatra with accompaniment from Stan Rubin's eleven-piece orchestra.
Carnegie Club, 156 W. 56th St., nr. Seventh Ave. (212-957-9676).
