lynnarro:

Congratulations...we are still waiting to get "our" letters.

You have to register or "commit"?

You know that the downtown is a ways away from SFSU right?
There is a shopping center that is closer...Serramonte I think.

If you want something nice/special in that price range I suggest that you try the thrift shops. They have great things for teens.

Good luck!

lol ok she has to "commit" and thanks it was her first choice:D...anyways can you tell me where some thrift shops are? I know about SerraMonte but we kind of wanted to find some places in the city since we're going to spend the day there...would really appreciate knowing about some places...thanks..and good luck

Go to Filmore Street.
The Junior League Thrift Shop is topps!
There are more on that street AND if those do not work some of the boutiques are reasonable.

That aside, you can not beat the Macy's on Union Square for sales...business is slow and the fashion inventory for Spring is reportedly in a banner year.

Have Fun!

Lynn,

Another thrift shop you might want to check out on the Peninsula is the Clothes Closet on Irving Street near 10th Avenue. Also, instead of Macy's in downtown, I would suggest going to Stonestown instead. It's right next to SFSU.

Have fun shopping.

Ambiance on 24th street. It is a bit pricey at times but they have a good sale/clearence section.

Otherwise check out Crossroads on either Market and Church streets or on Irving at 7th Ave. It is used and/or new clothing but are very current styles that teenagers will love. Crossroads is the BEST as far as thrift stores go!!!

Congratulations to your daughter!!!!!!

Your welcome. Stonestown is what I meant. Thanks Hann.

Have FUN!!!

Haight street has a number of resale shops, including a cross roads. It's probably your highest density of teen clothes.

Graduation, I think, is too special for a used dress. There are several outlets south of Market Street The best is the Jessica McClintock Outlet, who makes beautiful special occasion dresses and the outlet has some for around $80.00. Address: 494 FORBES BLVD. SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94080

1tiredmama I totally agree with you about the used dress thing...if it were up to me I would love to go to some of the trendiest shops around however...my daughter is not into the normal preppy trendy teen clothing...she dresses more along the lines of a mix between skater, punk and goth style...getting her into a nice dress is an accomplishment enough...so thats why I thought of thrift clothing stores because she likes that kind of stuff...and along those lines my daughter is a good example of you can judge a book by its cover...shes graduating with good grades and going to a good university:D Im very proud..she can dress however she wants as long as she gets a good education...thanks for everybodys help...anyone who can think of other places please let me know..thanks again

Lynn

lynnarro-Your daughter sounds wonderful. I am thinking she would prefer more of a "vintage" dress than a used prom dress. I went through my punk/new wave days, and still like to think of myself as a mom with an "edgy" style. Anyways, check out this link. I am sure it will help

The suggestions offered have a wide selection of used, new-never-worn, vintage and more.

The Junior League Thrift shop also has a know your socks off consignment clothing option too.

At any of the SF thrifts listed you will find it difficult to find an old prom dress...now a custom made Cotillion Dress or outfits that were worn once for a few hours for the Mother-Daughter Tea yes!

Check it out!
