Closest Skiing To Las Vegas?
We are planning a trip to Vegas the last week in January. My husband would like to find a place to go skiing while we're there...if there's anything within about a three hour drive. Anybody know of anyplace that would fit the bill? Thanks!

There is a ski area on Mount Charleston which is less than an hour west of Vegas. (It was where I learned to ski)
I have no idea what it is like now but I'm sure you can find out easily. Brianhead, Utah is about a 4 hour drive but if you are avid skiers I think it would be better to rent a condo and stay awhile. |
you can check out the area ahotpoet suggests at www.skilasvegas.com
they have 11 trails, 860' vertical drop and their longest run is 3000'. hope they can fit the bill? mammouth is also about 61/2 hours but would deserve a coule days stay as well. |
Snowbowl by Flagstaff is within range too.

Check Snowbowl (Flagstaff area) conditions before leaving. I went out several years ago, and they were only open on a limited number of runs because of a lack of snow. We decided against taking our skiing clothes because of that. Of course, they got a major snowstorm the next day, so we missed out on some great skiing. At that altitude, snow conditions can change drastically real quick.
