Closest airport to Santa Rosa??

We are heading to Santa Rosa Beach for vacation....which airport do we fly into? how far is it from Santa Rosa Beach? Thanks!!

FainaAgain Mar 29th, 2004 12:29 PM

Are you talking about the small town north of San Francisco? If yes, what beach? It's inland... I think... ;;)

Robinsen Mar 29th, 2004 03:33 PM

FainaAgain,

leigh is referring to Santa Rosa Beach Florida!!! I guess geography was not our best subject.

leigh, Pensacola airport would be the closest one that i know of, about 65 miles away.

Robinsen Mar 29th, 2004 03:33 PM

Correction:

"I guess geography was not YOUR best subject."

FainaAgain Mar 29th, 2004 03:45 PM

I always think closer to home B-)

razzledazzle Mar 29th, 2004 04:02 PM

Hey, Faina, I guess I'm geographically challenged as well-since I thought the leigh meant Santa Rosa,CA. As no state was indicated I think we're absolved. Well, great jumpin'pumpkins, there IS that Water Slide thingy North of SR town-it has a beach! I never knew there was a Santa Rosa Beach,FL.
Shame on us for thinking locally :))

Maybe Fort Walton Beach would be closer? The airport code is VPS hope this helps.

janis Mar 30th, 2004 03:22 PM

Just a tip if you want more info for your trip -- be sure to put Santa Rosa BEACH and/or FL in your title.

Most folks would assume "Santa Rosa" (w/o the "beach" part) is asking about the town in the Northern CA wine country.

FainaAgain Mar 30th, 2004 03:26 PM

Hello, my fellow geographically challenged Fodorites! According to Yahoo the following states have Santa Rosa:

AZ
CA
MS
MO
NM
PR
TX

Now what in the world is PR? >-)

rjw_lgb_ca Mar 30th, 2004 03:53 PM

PR = Puerto Rico.

Of course, there's also Santa Rosa Island, part of the Channel Islands - if memory serves correctly.

Also there must be at least one Santa Rosa in each South American and/or Central American country.

Is there a Santa Rosa in Spain?

Me, too, geographically challenged easytraveler with easy memory :)

It's nice to be in a company of geographically challenged Borgs 8-)

While were on the topic of flying into
Santa Rosa, and I mean the Charles M.
Shultz airport in Northern CA :S-
I want to remind my fellow
Borg's and Borgettes @};-
of our Petaluma
Butter & Eggs Day Parade and Festivities on April 24.**==
We don't have many chickens 'round
here no more, yet we do have lots
of dairy cows (including the
locations where the
Happy Cows 3:-o
cheese ads were filmed).
It's a midwest main street experience
with excellent wine:-D
and remember.....
it's good to be Borg :-O)))

Oh, yeah, it's a wonderful parade, we love it and go often. Should we start a new thread for a mini-get-together?

easytraveler Apr 1st, 2004 05:35 AM

Hello, R5! What would we do without you to keep us updated on all the wonderful happenings north of SF? :)

It's a bit early for late April planning for me - we're a family of last minuters. But, the date is marked on my calendar! Thanks so much!

leigh0311 Apr 1st, 2004 10:12 AM

Hey...this is leigh who originally posted....I WAS referring to Santa Rosa Beach, FLORIDA! So sorry I created such confusion!

The owner of the house we are renting says there is an airport about 15 miles away, and I am confused as which one....can;t be Pensacola cause that is too far. What do you think??
