Cleveland Restaurant near Rapid Transit Station
I'll be in Cleveland in a couple of weekends. As I arrive well before my friends on a Friday evening I thought I'd have a nice dinner. I'd like to take the train into Cleveland, have my dinner then cab to my hotel. Hotel hasn't been determined yet. It'll probably be in the 'burbs.
I'll be dressed business casual. Being alone I prefer to eat at a restaurant's bar rather than the dining room. Something classic and upscale would be nice. Or maybe something newer and trendy with eclectic food. I'm open to any type of cuisine. Something local as I have most of the big chains at home in Indianapolis. It's dinner for one so price doesn't matter. "I'm worth it dahhhhling." :-) Any suggestions? |
There are several options in the neighborhood of Ohio City, which is the W. 25th Street stop on the Rapid. As you come out of the station, cross the large street (to the right) and turn left. Cross 25th street, and you'll see Market Street on your right, which has two options. Flying Fig, which is upscale, modern and you can eat at the bar; and the Great Lakes Brewery, which has outdoor seating, very good beer and good if slightly pubish food.

You could also eat in the Warehouse District where there are many upscale, hip choices.
I enjoyed Blue Point Grille solo (I heard about it here) and ate at the bar. Exellent menu, pricey but well worth it. Also in the midst of clubs and the RTA. |
Thanks Merry and wander.
Does anyone know what Rapid stop would be near the warehouse district? When I look at the Cleveland Rapid Transit map I see the flats, University Circle, Little Italy, etc. but I don't see the warehouse district. |
Hi Indy,
I wasn't quite sure myself so I found this website as a refresher. http://world.nycsubway.org/us/clevel...eland-map.html Get off at Tower City / Public Square and walk north a couple blocks, (easy walk) to the Warehouse District. Let us know where you end up eating and what you think. |
My favorite restaurant in ohio city is fat cats. Great ny strip, wine list, and before entering there is good view of cleveland. downtown warehouse district I prefer Metropolitan Cafe over Blue point.....my personal preference. Mexican Food I would try Johnny Mango's in Tremont or Ohio City I can't remember. Ilive in phoenix now sorry

Johnny Mango is in Ohio City, but depending on how much luggage indytravel has it might be a bit of a pain to walk that far dragging suitcases. However, if you don't mind the schlep, there are tons of other great restaurants in Ohio City as well (can you tell where I live?). The two I mentioned are just closest to the station. There's more info at www.ohiocity.com.

Thanks everyone I appreciate the advice.
It's just a weekend so I'll have my small 19" suitcase with wheels. It shouldn't be a problem to walk. I've seen business people in downtown Indy with bigger computer bags. :-) |
