Cleveland nightlife?
I will be spending 4th of July weekend in Cleveland for a friend's wedding. Can anyone recommend some nightlife activities, or fun things to do? Am staying at the Residence Inn on Prospect. How's the location? What's the best way to get around?
Thanks much. |
The Warehouse District is where the fun clubs are. I think Tremont is also a trendy area. Will you have a rental car? If not, use cabs downtown. Try www.cleveland.com or www.travelclevland for more info. There are always fireworks at Edgewater Park on 4th July, just a short distance from downtown.

I have a friend from Cleveland. I will call her and get back to you

The Residence Inn is in the Gateway District, home of The Indians Jacobs Field and Gund Arena (Cavs). Also there, Hilarities Comedy Club/Pickwick & Frolic, and lots of other good restaurants. Be sure to check out the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Great Lakes Science Center, and the USS Cod, all on Lake Erie's waterfront. The Warehouse District has great, upscale clubs and also some of the best restaurants...Blue Point Grille, Cleveland Chop House, Mallorca and more. You'll have fun! Cleveland Rocks! ;) |
Other things to consider if you have time:
Cedar Point in Sandusky Soak City at Cedar Point (you can get a combination pass for the park and the water park) Put-In-Bay or Kelly's Island Cleveland Indians game Cleveland Zoo You will enjoy Cleveland. It's great there in the summer. Some people say the flats aren't as fun as they used to be, but Shooters and the Howl at the Moon Saloon are always fun. Also, Joe's Crab Shack is fun for dinner. |
The Flats/Warehouse District!!!
Eat at the Watermark for a nice meal, and party everywhere else!!! |
Well, some call Detroit "Cleveland without the glitter"....I had a great time at the "flats" which is located on the river that once caught fire (it was that polluted) That was long ago and this area was FUN.
I also second Put In Bay. Even if you do not have your own boat. Just to have a nice lunch, walk around the island (pretty older homes, nice gardens, lighthouse, winery with ok wines if you like sweet ones). |
DOn't walk around by yourself at night. Rent a car. Stick around the warehouse district. If you don't like to be harassed, then avoid the flats. Seriously, it is crude.

Cleveland can be great if you know where to go. Some good spots for dining are Ohio City, particularly the Flying Fig or Johnny Mango's - the latter is more casual. Or Little Italy on the East side, try Mama Santa's for really good pizza then stroll down to Presti's for some dessert (biscotti and other good Italian treats). While on the East side check out the Cleveland Museum of Art and the brand new greenhouse at the botanical garden - all on University Circle.

Just a note about the greenhouses at the botanical center, they are not open yet. They have been under a major renovation. My husband tried to see them last week-end and they were closed.
