Has anyone seen this show?

Thoughts?

IMHO, these shows have become way too expensive. I saw Cirque du Soleil the first time they pitched a tent (no pun intended) in lower Manhattan in the 1980s. Tickets were in the $20-$35 range.

Shortly after "O" opened at the Bellagio I bought great seats for about $100. Good value--great show.

However, on a recent trip to Las Vegas I was offered partial view seats in the last row of the arena for "Love" at $102.85 each. Good seats at $165 were unavailable.

The tickets are pricey in Las Vegas. When we went, we paid $75 for back row seats. However, the seats were situated directly in the middle and allowed us to see the stage and everything else around us much more easily. We saw Ka, which was great. So I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you go to vegas, don't balk at the back row seats, they're just as good!

I saw it in San Francisco and enjoyed it. We paid about $85 each for tickets. Some of the acrobatics were amazing~the contortionists were doing things that should NOT be possible with the human body!

I saw it in SF. I would rate it as fair. The traveling shows don't match the fixed Vegas shows (except for Zumanity).

I've seen half a dozen or so Cirque shows and now find them to be vert similar. I probably won't go to another Cirque show again.

I just saw it in Hartford and loved it. I've seen six Cirque performances and the only one I liked better was "O" in Vegas....but it is in a category by itself. Have a great time!

I don't know if they are still doing the ones in arenas but do NOT go to them. They are outrageously expensive and very poor shows. We have enjoyed the ones we have seen in the Grand Chapiteau.

Agree - stay away from the arena shows!!!

We did go and we loved it!

Received e-mail a few days before with driving directions and parking information, but then another recommending public transportation, so parked at Alewife and took the T.

Stopped on the way at our beloved Abe & Louie's for brunch.

Show was in an enormous tent with seats 3/4 way around stage. Acts are amazing with magnificent music. The tent poles do create a bit of obstruction, but not really noticeable during performances.

The weather was splendid the day we went, so that was nice, too.

I've seen just about every traveling Cirque that has come to Chicago. Each time I am amazed.
I was able to get 1/2 price tickets, sign up at the Cirque website and they will send emails when offers are available. KOOZA was excellent, several acts left me breathless.

Now I'm torn. djkbooks - have you seen other CdS shows in the past? And where did you sit for this show?

I have seen 5 or 6 CdS shows in the past, and honestly, except for the very first one which I was greatly impressed, the rest of the shows seem to all look the same to me.

But then, I found a discount on travelzoo for 40% off. So I can get the cheapest tickets for just $33pp. I was about to buy them, but then realize there's a $5 e-ticket surcharge, plus $7 per ticket convenience fee. So, instead of just $66 for 2 tickets, we'll have to pay $85.

At least you brought up the option of parking at Alewife and take the T there, so parking will be cheaper. How long was the T ride?

We saw Mystere in Las Vegas in March, our first live Cirque show. We would gladly see that one again. For sure, there were similarities in Kooza and there were no trapeze artists, but still an amazing show.

The ride from Alewife to JFK/UMass was about 30 minutes, another ten minutes walking to the tent. After the show, we stopped at Au Bon Pain in the Doubletree for coffee, so if there was a crowd for the T we missed it.

Our seats were Section 202 Row M and were just fine. (Learned at Mystere not to sit too close.)

I saw KOOZA in San Francisco. It's okay but not as good as Cirque's Vegas shows.

djkbooks - Thank you for your responses. After discussing with my husband, we decide to give it a pass this time, esp we've seen several CdS shows already in the past. Adding everything up, the whole evening will be upwards of $100 for seats in the cheapest section. I think we'll use that $ for a nice sashimi dinner instead.
