If you want detailed reviews with more info than you need, go to www.lvol.com and www.cheapovegas.com.
I can't think of any circumstances under which I'd stay at Circus Circus, since it's in a poor location, it's old, and other hotels usually offer rates in the same range.
Just my opinion.

Our family stayed at Circus, Circus about five years ago, just when a new tower opened. It was OK. The kids LOVED Grand Slam Canyon (indoor amusement park). I know its name has changed, if it's even still there. The location is awful. Casino tacky. I'd stay much further down the strip next time.

Stay there only if you have your own kids with you.
There are many more preferable hotel casinos even in the budget category.
If that's the case, Treasure Island is a much better choice for staying in a GOOD (mid) location on THE STRIP.
I stayed there last year on a rather dubious recommendation from someone who really should have known better! I found the rooms to be absolutely fine and something of a bargain but the rest of the place was MY idea of a nightmare!

I was there with a friend and we were looking for a rather different atmosphere! However, if you are travelling with kids then I suspect that it would be a good choice. Certainly there's loads for them to do and it was very friendly, although tackier than most I visited.

I suppose it rather depends on what you are looking for in your stay.

It's a dinosaur of a hotel in an inconvenient area. I can't imagine why anyone, even with kids, would stay here.
I'm guessing it goes out of business in the next 5 years.

Old and tacky! Find another option...
There are much better choices for the same price and better locations.
Some of the rooms remind me of a nursery with clowns and baloons "painted" on the walls. Tacky.

Wow, it didn't take long for Circus Circus to get hammered! I have stayed there a few times in the past 3 years (we went with my in-laws and it's their place of choice...what can I say?!). The rooms are clean and of decent size, the bathrooms are fine, and the toiletries are reasonable. They don't claim to be something they're not...I think you get value for what you pay. I personally would not choose to stay there, but I think if you're on a tighter budget and have kids, it's an okay place. We went to Vegas in October again and we stayed at Mirage cuz the prices had come down so much at the higher end places. I agree that Circus Circus is almost at the end of the Strip (save Stratosphere!) Having said that, if you have kids, they will love the Adventure Dome. Also, we LIKE gambling at Circus Circus cuz the dealers aren't all uppity, and they have some tables with low gambling minimums so we can sit down and gamble too. We like to gamble, but are chicken so we don't want to lose $25-$50 on a single bet like the mid-strip casino minimums. Long live $5 &$10 Pai Gow Tables at Circus Circus!!!
