Circle line cruise questions
Decided to take a Circle line cruise this Friday. Have lived in NJ all my life and never did the Circle line.
My question is that we have a choice of taking it from two locations, 42nd and 2nd, which I assume is the regular cruise. If we go from there we'll do the 2 hours cruise. I've read that the 3 hour cruise is about an hour too long. But then I was checking their site and saw that we can take their Zephyr boat from South Street seaport. It is a one hour cruise and looks like it covers the same route as the two hour cruise above. Obviously one is more leisurely whereas the other faster. Is there a commentary on both? Each one puts us in a differant location for lunch choices too. Just looking for input on both cruises so I can make a decision. Thanks in advance for your help. KathyH |
42nd and 2nd is an inland location--no pier for cruising there. The main Circle Line pier is at 42nd and the Hudson River/12th Ave.
I've never taken the Zephyr so can't advise about commentary. |
Oops, a typo, meant 12th. Yes, be hard to get a cruise ship into the center of manhatten.

I took the Zephyr last summer on an evening cruise, it's more of a party boat and found it a load of fun. Also like the South Street Seaport area more for strolling around/eating, etc. before/after the cruise. The mid-town location is kind of in no man's land.

We took the Zephyr (3 PM) on girlfriends trip last Oct. It was really nice, had commentary and stopped for pictures at the Statue of Liberty. It was a nice day but very cold on top deck; other than that, we had a great time.
Recently returned with husband and daughter and chose New York Waterways tour which was 90 minutes and really liked it being longer. It went quite a way past the Manhattan Bridge where the Zepher turns back immediately after the Brooklyn Bridge. We got some great skyline views on the longer tour. |
