Chuckwagon Dinner
We're looking for recommendations for a cowboy/chuckwagon dinner in SW Colorado, Utah (Moab, Zion, Bryce) or Sedona, AZ. I have 3 boys, so gun fight vs. singing and dancing. Travel dates 7/25 - 8/15.

We went to a chuckwagon dinner in Durango years ago--the Bar D Chuckwagon. However, it was songs and comedy, no gunfights!
A couple other activities that might be of interest to your sons in that area (SW Colorado) are the Silverton Train in Durango and the nearby Mesa Verde National Park. |
For SW Colorado, I'd recommend the Bar-D Chuckwagon, just north of Durango. The food's fairly good, and the music is very nice. No gunfights or dancing, I'm afraid. We go every summer. (970) 247-5753.
The melodrama in Durango is also fun for kids, with all the noise the audience is supposed to make during the show: booing, clapping, sighing, etc. |
Thanks for the info! We already have reservations for the train and are planning to go to Mesa Verde (as long as wildfires are under control). We have 1 week in Pagosa Springs, so the chuckwagon dinner in Durango sounds like it will work out! Thanks again for your help!

BBEAR, I wrote this on a different thread, but you might want to check out Chimney Rock Archaeological Center, especially if they have a full moon program during your stay.
From Pagosa, you may also want to drive up to the continental divide at Wolf Creek Pass. There's a beautiful lake just over the divide called Big Meadows Reservoir. The walk around the lake is easy and pleasant. Make sure you go to the hot springs! |
