Chrome luggage carriers with wheels --do you carry those on plane or check them?

I have one of those old style suitcases where there is no retractable handle and easy use wheels. Mine has the wheels on the bottom and always falls over when you drag it along by the handle. My sister gave me one of those chrome/metal luggage carriers with wheels that you bungee cord your suitcase to and pull it along easily. So I thought I might give this a try. My question is this....do I leave that thing attached to the suitcase and check it that way, or am I supposed to bring the carrier thing on the airplane as a carry-on? Does that then count as my carry-on or could I still bring along a bag to stowe?

Don't leave it attached to your suitcase, ou'll never see it again.

Leave room in your carryon for the luggage carrier. Most airlines allow two carryons; one is a "personal item" like a briefcase, pocketbook, or laptop.

Have you given any thought to actually calling the airline you're traveling on and asking them what their policies are???

When I take one (to roll boxes for business purposes) I check it when I can and carry it on when I can't. Contact your airline via phone or website to see what their carryon/check limits are.

I bought a great canvas bucket bag in South Beach that I use as my carry-on. I slip my purse, book, luggage cart, whatever, in it to carry the stuff on the plane. Once it's on the plane, you can separate the items for storage (cart in bin overhead, purse under the seat in front of you, book in pocket, etc.)

If we bring one (comes in handy for big boxes, etc.) we usually check it - should be separate from any suitcases. Seems it's always the last thing off the plane though.

The one time I took one along and checked it, the agent took the bungee cords off and gave them to me. Said they wouldn't take it with the bungee cords--too many people got hit by them. This was on US Air some years ago.
