Christmas Week in Outer Banks, NC

My family (parents, siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, etc. -- 21 people total) are all sharing a huge house in Kill Devil Hills, NC for the week from Christmas to New Year's. Can anyone recommend fun things to do to get me out of the house (and get a break from all that family)? Biking, horseback riding, hiking, museums, movie theaters, restaurants?

Climb the sand dunes at Jockey's Ridge, visit Wright Brothers Museum, Visit Fort Raleigh near Manteo (England's first New World settlement 1584-1590), eat at Blue Point Bar & Grill in Duck, walk the beach in search of the amazing shells washed up after hurricane season and if you need a whole day away ... take a drive (1 1/2 hrs) to Lake Mattamuskeet or Pocosin Lakes Wildlife Refuge. In December, thousands of Tundra Swans, Canada and Snow Geese, pintails, black ducks, and mallards are seen on the lake. Bring a camera. Check the "Pocosin Portraits"by Mike Dunn & Juan Pons

If you have younger children, try the NC Aquarium in Manteo. We have 7 kids at our house same timeframe each year and mostly they like to hang out on the beach. Also, they enjoy fishing, check Avalon Pier in KH and then pop over to Awful Arthur's for lunch. Wildlife education center up at Whalehead Club is good for a bit if you're up that way to see the Currituck Light or drive on the 4wd beach to look for wild horses... Another daytrip idea is to go to Ocracoke.
