Christmas trip

My husband and I have gotten into the habit of travelling the week between Christmas and New Years since I teach. We have Marriott points and airline miles that we would like to use. We are trying to figure out where we should go next Christmas. In the past 18 months, we have been to Phoenix, LA, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver and Montreal. We will be going to Hawaii for two weeks in August.

We are looking for some creative ideas
-WE don't ski
-We want some place warm (50 and above)
-We don't want to go to an island
-We want to stay in the continental US
-We love to hike and be outside; we have fallen in love with National Parks in the West
-I love historical places
-We love beautiful scenery
-It is just for two (we will both turn 30 in the fall)

Does anybody have any ideas? I would like to try some place new but also love Seattle and San Francisco. Is it silly to go someplace we have already been?

Any ideas would be helpful!

Have you ever been to Savannah? I was only there for about 5 hours and I fell in love. It's warm, beautiful, and definitely historic. I think there'd be lots of outdoorsy stuff to do there too. It's definitely worth looking into.

I hadn't thought of Savannah. Cool idea!

I'd check out Tuscon, AZ.

Go to New Orleans, LA and stay at Windsor Court or Ritz Carlton. They have great rates that time of the year. Go to RC and hear Jeremy Davenport at French Quarter Bar for some nice Jazz. Eat lunch at Galatoire's, have some fresh oysters at Acme or Felix's, go to Bayona, Peristyle, August, Emeril's, Demonico's or Brigtsen's for dinner. Walk the Quarter, ride the St. Charles trolley, Go by Tulane Unviversity, have a great trip.

Great ideas so far.
Anything else?

Charleston, SC would edge out Savannah for me HOWEVER, you'll find people almost split down the middle as to what city they like best between the two.

That said, since they are only a couple of hours apart by car, do both and decide for yourself.

I would spend four nights in Charleston and three in Savannah because Charleston has more to do than Savannah. Better shopping, dining, and attractions but almost a dead heat architectual wise. Historically, I think Charleston beats out Savannah.

I'd give a second vote for New Orleans for weather and historical places of interest.

I'd also vote for Central to South Florida for outdoors activities that time of year.
