christmas tree for houston visitor
 

Message: My family and I are renting an apartment in Houston starting next week for six weeks for a family member to be treated at MD Anderson cancer center. I'm trying to bring christmas to houston for us, and was wondering if there is a company in houston that will deliver a christmas tree to your home. I know you can order them online, however, since we will be tied up at hospital during the day, thought I'd have better luck coordinating a delivery time with a local company.

Try the River Oaks Plant House (a florist shop on Westheimer Road). It might be pricey, because it is located in an expensive area, but I saw a sign up that said they will deliver a lit tree and remove it after Christmas.

You didn't ask about this, but I thought I'd also mention that if you're looking for somewhere to shop quickly for meals, you should be sure to stop by Central Market at 3815 Westheimer (at the corner of Westheimer and Weslayan). Central Market has an unbelievable selection of food (meats, seafood, cheeses, European breads, produce, etc.), but it also has a lot of prepared foods (such as a dozen types of homemade soups in a refrigerator case and ready for the taking). I realize you'll have very little time for cooking, and this is a wonderful alternative to restaurant take-out. They also cater complete holiday meals.

You can check out their website at www.centralmarket.com. Whole Foods and Eatzi's are two other alternatives for prepared food.
