Christmas/New Year 2004

We're a couple, no kids, who would love to go away for Christmas/New Year in 2004. We are stumped for a destination - log cabin in the snow, hot beach etc etc. Any ideas or advice will be greatly welcomed
Many thanks

How about Maui? There was a post here a while back from a couple that spent Christmas at the Four Seasons there and loved it. They had kids, but it sounded like everything was really festive all over the island for the holiday. Plus, you get to lay on the beach instead of shoveling snow! :) Your options are endless, though. How about Europe--see how another country celebrates.

If I were going away for Christmas, I'd also probably choose a big European city. Most likely Paris, because I just love Paris!

But, we had a large family gathering in the mountains of Colorado one Christmas which was very nice. We rented a big lodge, but I'm sure there are smaller places available. We stayed in Ouray and had a day trip to Telluride. Very relaxing, and we had a blast snow-shoeing and just watching the snow. Also, there were ice-climbers in Ouray that were fun to watch!

Whistler, B.C. Great skiing, food, lodging, and people from all over the world. The village of Whistler is gorgeous at Christmas, lots of white lights, a winter wonderland.

Many thanks for your replies. We're going to Hawaii in September and , living, in the UK, Paris is a frequent destination.Whistler/Colorado sounds very interesting. Does anyone have any idea where I can check out accommodation - cabins / hotels?

You can find "Whistler/Blackcomb" in the Destinations area of this site, in the Canada section. That will give you a start.

Cathy, I'd start by doing a search on the different resorts; Whistler, Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, or others even in Utah; Deer Creek, Park City. Lots of posts on all of them here. Check out the resort websites and see which appeals to you most. Each has different ambiance and different activities to offer. Then you can search for rentals by owner. www.vrbo.com (I think) I'd definitely get a condo for that length of time. And keep in mind, you're choosing an expensive week.
